Iranian forces are reportedly moving and placing coastal missile systems on heightened readiness to target U.S. warships and oil tankers linked to Washington in the Persian Gulf.
The reported move comes after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic missiles toward U.S. Navy warships, followed by U.S. strikes on three Iranian crude oil carriers on Saturday.
Iran has also warned vessels operating in the Persian Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz against unauthorized or suspicious movements, while the IRGC has threatened to intensify attacks if Washington continues its naval pressure and attacks on Iranian shipping.
The latest developments raise the risk of further attacks on military and commercial shipping across the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
