Russia launched deliberate strikes against airports in Kyiv and Boryspil overnight, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy said the strikes appeared to be linked to discussions and preparations for the possibility of a U.S. aircraft traveling to Ukraine and landing at either Kyiv Airport or Boryspil Airport.
He described the attacks as a deliberate Russian response to U.S. diplomatic efforts and said Ukraine had taken note of the move.
Zelenskyy warned that Ukraine would adjust its operations regarding Russian airspace next week, while emphasizing that Kyiv would not threaten diplomatic efforts.
The strikes come as discussions continue over the possibility of a U.S. aircraft arriving in Ukraine amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to advance peace.
