Thousands of young Kenyans could soon be taking over security duties in government offices, as lawmakers push to have National Youth Service (NYS) graduates replace some private security guards.
The move, championed by Kilifi Woman Representative Gertrude Mbeyu, aims to create structured jobs for youth while reducing government spending on private security firms.
If passed, the government will create a formula to determine how security responsibilities are shared between NYS graduates and private companies.
