Rising fuel costs and pressure to cut government spending have prompted Tanzania to introduce strict new travel rules for public officials, with all senior figures now required to move together in a single bus.

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan said the directive, which also limits convoys to her escort, police, and a single emergency vehicle, is aimed at reducing fuel consumption and curbing unnecessary expenditure across government operations.
