Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that the government may soon issue a final ultimatum demanding that Hamas fully disarm and end its military presence in Gaza within days.
Smotrich warned that failure to comply would trigger a large-scale military operation by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), adding that Israel would act with backing from the United States.
In an interview with Israeli public broadcaster Kan, he said the IDF is finalizing operational plans should the second phase of a ceasefire centered on disarmament fail to materialize.
Smotrich expressed confidence that if Hamas rejects the conditions, Israel would secure international legitimacy to proceed with decisive military action independently.
