Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has threatened to lead nationwide protests if police officers allegedly involved in the January 25 attack at ACK Witima Church in Othaya are not arrested by February 16.
Speaking at a Nairobi press conference on January 30, Gachagua accused 12 officers of attempting to assassinate him during the church service and demanded their immediate arrest, disarmament, and prosecution. He said he had submitted their names to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and accused senior police commanders of inaction.
Gachagua warned that failure to act would trigger mass demonstrations targeting Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, Inspector General Douglas Kanja, and his deputies.
The government dismissed the claims as stage-managed, while religious groups condemned the attack and desecration of the church.
