Many chicks die within the first 24 hours not because of disease, but because of cold and delayed access to water.
When chicks arrive and the brooder is not warm enough, they become weak very fast. If they also donโt drink water immediately, their bodies shut down.
This mistake usually happens when farmers are still arranging the brooder after the chicks arrive.
Always make sure the brooder is already warm before chicks come in, and give them clean, slightly warm water immediately. This simple step can save many chicks.
