NANYUKI, KENYA — A wave of grief and outrage has swept across social media following the tragic death of 20-year-old Risper Faith, who was found lifeless in a local lodging under unclear circumstances.
Risper, a young mother and beloved daughter, left home at noon after asking her father for KSh 200 to go to town — she never made it back. Hours later, her body was discovered in a lodging where she had allegedly checked in with her 21-year-old baby daddy, identified as Elvis Ndegwa, who is now on the run.
According to reports, the suspect had a history of violence against Risper and had previously been taken to court over assault charges. However, Risper later withdrew the case on February 10, hoping things would improve — a decision that now leaves her family shattered.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Westkagu Jacque, writing alongside Njeri Wa Migwi, called for urgent action and public assistance in locating the suspect, saying:
“Ladies and gentlemen, WE CANNOT BE SILENT!
This is FEMICIDE. This is INJUSTICE. This cannot be another statistic.
We must rise, speak, and act. If you see him, know him, or hear anything, report immediately to the nearest police station. We owe Faith her justice, her dignity, and her daughter a future free of fear.”
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since confirmed that a manhunt is underway for Ndegwa.
Risper’s death has reignited calls for Kenya to address rising cases of femicide and gender-based violence, with the public demanding justice and accountability.
Risper Faith, we remember you. We fight for you. May justice prevail
