Four Somali TikTokers were arrested after posting a dance video mocking President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud by remixing his 2022 campaign song with offensive lyrics. Though deleted, the clip is still circulating.
Authorities said the men will face charges, warning that insulting national leaders is a crime. This marks the first arrest over criticism of a top politician, sparking debate about free expression in Somalia, where influencers have previously been jailed for clan insults, incitement, or “immoral” content.
