Details Of 4 Catholic Choir Members From Lundazi Die In An Accident In Malawi

Four Catholic Church choir members from Kambale, Mapala and Mkomba zones from St. Francis Parish in Mwase Lundazi lost their lives in a road traffic accident which happened yesterday (Friday) at Lwanjati along the Champhira-Luwerezi earth road in Mzimba Malawi and also left several others injured.

Malawi Jenda police spokesperson Macfarlen Mseteka said the vehicle, a 5-tonne Hino Ranger was carrying 74 people from a Catholic church in Mwase Lundazi, Zambia to Chizani in Mzimba for a church function.

Mseteka says the driver failed to negotiate a corner at Lwanjati while descending a steep slope, causing the vehicle to overturn several times.

Reports reaching Kanele 97.7 FM from within the church indicate that those who died are one (1) from Kapela or Mapala, another one (1) from Mkomba and two (2) from Kambale.
