FIFA have confirmed that Iran will base their World Cup camp in Tijuana, Mexico, after initially choosing Tucson, Arizona.
- Due to ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, the Iranian federation requested that all of their World Cup matches be played in Mexico, but the request was rejected.
- Iran will train in Mexico throughout the tournament but will still need to travel to the United States for their group-stage fixtures.
- Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that the U.S. does not want Iranian players staying overnight on its territory, while Mexico has no issue hosting them.
- Neither a spokesperson for Trumpโs World Cup Task Force nor the U.S. State Department provided comment on the situation.
