An international storm is brewing over Uganda’s post-election crisis after renowned human rights lawyer Robert Amsterdam released a powerful open letter demanding that Ugandan authorities guarantee the safety of opposition leader Bobi Wine and his family.
The letter follows the disputed January 15, 2026 presidential election, in which President Yoweri Museveni was declared winner of a seventh term amid widespread allegations of electoral fraud.
Amsterdam warned that if any harm comes to Bobi Wine or his family, international legal action and targeted sanctions will follow against individuals found responsible.
“Guarantee Bobi Wine’s safety or face international consequences.” Amsterdam.
