SUNDAY Nation reports; Harambee One, the presidential jet that has served four Heads of State, is currently in the Netherlands for final service before retirement.

A 30-year-old Fokker 70 ER bought in 1996, is being retired due to high maintenance costs, scarce parts, and mechanical issues like hydraulic leaks.

Defence CS Soipan Tuya has confirmed that the aircraft is in warehouses owned by Fokker Services Group – the firm that manufacturers spare parts for the Fokker brand – for one year for its last maintenance.

This development has raised fresh questions about President Ruto’s temporary travel arrangements and the government’s plans to replace the aircraft, which in recent years has experienced recurring mechanical challenges.
