Victor Osimhen has been accused by Turkish media of intentionally getting a yellow card during Galatasaray’s 4-1 win over Antalyaspor to serve a suspension while on international duty with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The Nigerian striker was already at risk of suspension before Saturday’s game, having received yellow cards against Beşiktaş, Kocaelispor, and Fenerbahçe. He faced a ban for any further bookings.
Osimhen received a yellow card in the 85th minute for pulling an opponent’s shirt, leading to an automatic one-match suspension. He will miss Galatasaray’s upcoming league match against Kasımpaşa.
According to Turkish outlet Gazete Gerçek, he may be referred to the Turkish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee for allegedly “deliberately receiving a yellow card.”
The committee’s rules state that a player found to have intentionally received a yellow or red card to avoid matches may face a two-match ban.
