Brian Mwenda Njagi became one of Kenyaโs most bizarre legal stories after posing as a lawyer and winning 26 court cases without having any formal legal training. By illegally accessing the Law Society of Kenyaโs online portal and taking over the account of a real advocate with a similar name, he managed to fool the entire legal system, appearing before magistrates, High Court judges, and other senior courts with confidence that left even seasoned lawyers stunned.
He argued cases fluently, quoted statutes with ease, and carried himself like a trained professional, earning unexpected victories that raised no suspicion for months. When the deception was finally uncovered, the Law Society of Kenya moved quickly to disown him and initiate his arrest, triggering a national debate about competence, loopholes, and talent within the justice system. And in a twist that shocked many, Mwenda boldly represented himself in court during his own case and won, cementing his place as one of Kenyaโs most audacious impostors.
It should be noted that the LSK president refuted claims that Mwenda won all 26 cases, stating his legal documents were inadequate and many cases were actually lost or cost clients money. However, multiple other sources from around the same time corroborate the story of him winning all cases, including his own.
