Revealed: Why Raila Odinga’s Body Was Not Taken To His Karen Home

Following the change of the schedule for Raila Odinga’s body to spend the night at his Karen residence, It has learned of the new development that resulted in the last-minute changes, despite all the preparations having been put in place to host Raila for the last time at his City Residence.

According to sources within top government security agencies and the burial committee chaired by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, the last-minute changes were agreed upon after military morticians advised the State that the body needed proper embalming before being airlifted to Kisumu on Saturday morning.

The sources also revealed that the body had started slow decomposition due to improper embalming conducted in India before repatriation to Kenya, due to the urgency.

Some additional embalming is also said to have been done at Moi International Stadium Kasarani before the family and senior government officials could view the body. This embalming was conducted by a team of medical personnel from Forces Memorial Hospital.

The security issue at the Karen Residence also played a significant part in the decision-making. The team was of the consensus that if Raila Odinga’s body spent the night there, his supporters might break into the residence and cause damage while attempting to view the body for the last time.
