Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has clarified that ex-Interior CS Fred Matiang’i is not yet an official presidential candidate for the Jubilee Party.

Addressing the growing speculation over Matiang’i’s political ambitions, Wambugu noted that while he personally supports Matiang’i’s presidential bid, the Jubilee constitution mandates that any such candidacy must first be formally proposed and endorsed at a National Delegates Conference (NDC).

He, however, welcomed Matiang’i’s expression of interest in leading the party into the 2027 presidential race, describing it as a positive and energizing signal for Jubilee’s future direction.🙌
