Update: Former Chesumei MP Elijah Lagat is dead

The former legislator died while undergoing treatment at Eldoret hospital

Until his death,Lagat was a member of the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse Authority Board

The Lagat was first elected into parliament in 2007 through ODM ticket representing Emgwen Constituency

Later, Emgwen constituency was divided into two creating Chesumei Constituency which Lagat again in 2013 emerged the first elected legislator in the newly formed making his way to National assembly under Jubilee party

Elijah Kiptarbei Lagat born 19 June 1966 was the winner of the 104th running of the Boston Marathon held in 2000.
