Here is a photo of Nadia Cherono Ruto with President William Ruto—first captured in 2015, and again today at State House, Nairobi.
Born in Machakos, Nadia’s life began with hardship. Abandoned by her mother just a day after birth, she was rescued and cared for by the Catholic sisters at Madre Ippolita Children’s Home, who gave her a second chance at life.
In 2015, during a fundraiser, she met William Ruto, then Deputy President. Deeply touched by her story, he welcomed her into his family and named her Cherono after his mother, Mama Sarah Cherono Cheruiyot.
Since then, Nadia has grown up by his side, often seen holding her father’s hand at public events. From the 2024 WRC Safari Rally in Naivasha to a three-day state visit to Ghana, she has shared in his most significant moments.
Today, Nadia continues to make new memories with her father—like attending a church service together at the State House Chapel.
Her journey is a touching reminder that family is not only where we begin, but where we are nurtured with love, support, and belonging—a foundation that can transform a life forever.
