Demolition of the Pangani footbridge on Thika Superhighway To Start Within 90 days

Shock and disbelief as the Land Acquisition Tribunal delivers a landmark ruling ordering the demolition of the Pangani footbridge on Thika Superhighway within 90 days.

The Tribunal found that the structure encroached on private property belonging to Sheikh Fazal Ilani Noordin Charitable Trust without proper acquisition or compensation by KeNHA.

In its ruling, the State was ordered to pay a staggering Ksh2.3 billion in total compensation, including Ksh1.2 billion for the land, Ksh500 million for the portion acquired, Ksh300 million for trespass, Ksh240 million in lost income, Ksh75 million as disturbance allowance, and Ksh5 million in aggravated damages.
