These are the Minimum Qualifications + Salary of a Chief in Kenya
To be Assistant Chief II:
- KCSE C- (Minus) or equivalent
- 30+ years old
- Resident of the sublocation
- Good communication skills
- Police clearance & basic computer skills
Salary : 26k to 47k
TO BE CHIEF II: ( above )
- KCSE C (Plain) or higher
- 35+ years old
- Diploma in Public Admin, Management, Social Work, Education, or related fields
- KCSE C (Plain) or higher.
- Salary : 30k to 70k
However, in some regions such as Northern Kenya, West Pokot, Baringo etc there are no qualified individuals for these positions. In some cases, entire ( sub ) locations do not have a single person with a KCSE grade C, prompting the government to request waivers to fill the vacancies.
Their jobs are permanent and pensionable.
