I prefer Wetang’ula to Musalia Mudavadi a thousand times over because the Kenyan political terrain demands for grit, timing, and tactical brilliance,…traits Wetangula has in silos.
Musalia on the other hand often waits too long for the perfect wave and time that never comes.
Always described as the gentleman of politics, his calm demeanor and diplomacy has made him compromise alot at the expense of the Community and his own personal growth.
Despite decades of being in successive governments apart from Uhuru’s,…boy leaves behind no beacon of development, no defining legacy,…just a long, quiet presence in the corridors of power that never quite translated to anything meaningful.
Since he was I don’t know 26 years, he has occupied positions of influence, held the ear of presidents, and sat at the table where major decisions are made, yet the Luhya community he comes from has little to show for it.
Hata appointments in Government come with whispers of Raila’s name Wetangula or personal relationship the lucky candidates have with the appointing authority.
No landmark project, no transformative policy, no moment that history will tie to his name. He is the perfect example of safe politics that is silent yet ineffective!!!
Then there is Wetangula, a political beast altogether.
Shrewd, firm, judicious who plays his game like a chess master,…measured, methodical, and often lethal when the occasion calls for it.
He doesn’t blink, he calculates. He knows when to shift alliances and when to hold his ground doesn’t matter how much you blackmail or armtwist him…
He has the spine and the energy,..even the 30% was all his,.. Musalia had nothing in his bowl in terms of votes.
But for all these brilliance,.. he comes with truckloads of flaws..
For starters,.he has no passion of Empowering his community, his moves and schemes are always self- serving.
He has no plan of changing Mulembe Nation for better,..Economically ,Socially and politically. and often rides on poverty politics for sustainability.
If he came with the above then the Luhya Nation would be miles ahead and he would be a worthy Kingpin.
The tragedy they’re the same when it comes to fighting for the community interest as a whole,…. Natembeya is better but they’re cutting his legs.
