Update: US Embassy Issues A Statement Amid Gen Z’s Protests

The U.S. Embassy in Kenya has issued a statement urging peace and restraint amid ongoing protests. With over 50 protest-related deaths reported, the Embassy calls on all actors to respect the rule of law and avoid violence.

The embassy expresses concerns over ‘provocateurs and opportunists’ who’ve infiltrated the Gen Z protests and are now blocking roads and looting businesses.

They further recommends President Ruto’s commitment to addressing crucial issues raised by Kenyans as well as move for the national Dialogue.
