HELSB Awards Additional Student Loans – Kawanda

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) has awarded additional student loans to 984 appellants at Copperbelt University (CBU) and 103 at Mukuba University for the 2024/2025 academic year.

At CBU, HELSB received 10,623 applications, with 9,926 applicants meeting the eligibility criteria. Of these, 3,537 students were awarded loans in October, and with the additional awards, the total number of first-year students awarded loans now stands at 4,521.

Similarly, at Mukuba University, HELSB received 1,378 applications, with 1,218 applicants deemed eligible. Initially, 600 students were awarded loans in September, and with the additional awards, the total number of first-year students awarded loans now stands at 703.

The additional awards have been made possible through alternative funding sources.
