He proposed to me and at the same time promised 3 other Ladies marriage
I met this guy on Facebook a year ago, we started chatting and later fell in love with each other. He lives in France. This guy normally sends me money monthly to take care of myself even though I work and earn good salary. He promised to come back and get married to me. At a certain point in time He requested the bride price list which my family provided and He didn’t object. Before this time I’d visited his mum twice upon his request.
Finally this guy came home and I was the first person he wanted to meet, He proposed to me the day he came. (I’m tempted to attach our engagement pictures) he brought me things and I was excited. 2 days after he arrived he needed to sort out some documents and requested I go with him of which I did. When we arrived at the office premises, I stayed in the car while he went in, shortly after he came out with some documents and asked me to fill those documents on his behalf I was shocked.
It was then I realized he couldn’t read nor write but he was still forming big boy that he lives in France and can only write in French. He almost asked me to sign for him Gosshh!! Mind you this guy made me understand he’s a university graduate but his mom said he didn’t go to school hmmm. I tried to push that fact aside and not capitalize on his education.
We have always been communicating through calls or voice notes in our local language. I can remember one time he tried sending me a text message, I read it and it sounded like Arab (jokes aside). He defended himself that it was typing error. My problem now is why is he lying?
Moving forward, he actually came with his people to ask for my hand in marriage (knock door) 2 weeks.later.
They brought drinks and other stuff as the tradition demanded. I was happy I’ve finally gotten my own man. Hmmm.
The first week when I arrived he mostly used my phone to make his calls and I didn’t pay any attention to who he called. So one evening we went out for fun and took some pictures, he asked me to change his Whatsapp profile picture. When I took his phone and opened his gallery, I realized it was full of nūdes of different girls.
My God!! I quickly went through his Whatsapp chats and discovered he had about 3 other girls he is planning to come see their parents to ask for their hands in Marriage too. Holy Moses I almost vomited due to tension in me. I took my time to delete some of the nûdes I found in his phone because it was disgusting. Then instead of me uploading the picture he asked me to, I uploaded a picture of the two of us as his DP. That’s when all hell went loose.
He started receiving calls from different angles from the different girls. When he realized what had caused the problem, he could not ask me any questions, he refused to pick their calls at the time. It was some kind of fun until the table turned. Some of these girls started calling my line since it was the number he used before to call them.
They sent me all kinds of threats until I became scared. This guy didn’t see the need to apologize to me instead he started acting up. I took my time one evening when he was sleeping to go through his phone and discovered he actually pays girls to send him nüdes of themselves. Abi na so men abroad dey do? That’s when I said to myself this guy is a uselëss guy and a pervërt but kept calm and didn’t say anything to him. In one of our discussions I asked him playfully how much he spent when he came to ask for my hand in marriage. He boastfully said it.
Since I was already planning to go back to our house after being with him for a month giving him free knacking. I withdrew the money he said he spent during knock from my account handed it back to him and told him I’m no longer interested in his marriage proposal or whatever and I left.
He couldn’t believe what happened. All these while my phone is almost blowing off as he keeps calling and even using different numbers. It was brain draining already for me and I don’t think I could continue with such.
My sister and my friends are saying I overreacted, please tell me if my decision was wrong. I’d like to hear other people’s opinions too. Thank you.
