A local primary school teacher of Zimba District has been hailed as a hero after he assisted a woman to give birth along a road.

Kenny Sikalongwe Kasipa known for his calm demeanor among his co-workers, found himself in an unexpected medical situation Thursday morning when he alongside 50 passengers in a light truck intervened in the labor of an unknown pregnant woman.

Mr. Kasipa discloses that he was compelled to offer assistance when the expectant mother became sick and requested that the driver stops the vehicle for her to recuperate, but labor kicked in.

He adds that upon realising that no one was willing to help, he decided to disembark from the stationary truck and aided the woman deliver a baby boy, much to his relief.

Mr Sikalongwe confirms the mother and the child whom he has given his first name have been safely transported by authorities to Zimba District Hospital.
