AG. IG MASENGELI’S Address Regarding The Surmised NANE NANE Demonstrations

The Ag. Inspector General National Police Service Mr. Gilbert Masengeli on August 7, 2024 cautioned the public that criminals planning to infiltrate tomorrow’s Nane Nane demonstrations and commit further crimes.

He spoke during a press briefing held at NPS Headquarters Nairobi, where he was flanked by Deputy IG Kenya Police Mr. Eliud Lagat, DCI Mr. Mohamed I. Amin among other Gazetted Officers.

In anticipation, the Ag. IG said that Police has deployed adequate security personnel, but advised members of public to take extra caution while in crowded areas that are likely to turn riotous.

Mr. Masengeli further cautioned “members of public against contravening the Kenya Civil Aviation Act and Protected Areas Act by avoiding trespass of protected areas such as Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and State House/Lodges.”

He added that those planning to exercise their rights of participation in public demonstrations should comply with the attendant laws.

The Police Chief also commended all Police Officers wherever they are serving our Country, and beyond, for their dedication to duty, appreciating that Officers are serving under very difficult conditions, and urged them to discharge their Constitutional mandate devoid of fear or favor.
