In response to plans by Kenyans to occupy Uhuru Park and camp there until President Ruto addresses their concerns, police have now banned protests in Nairobi and its surroundings.

Inspired by the 2011 Tahrir Square protests in Egypt that led to the fall of Mubarak in 18 days, the movement, dubbed #OccupyUhuruPark, was already trending and some Kenyans had tweeted that they had already purchased camping items.
