Mozambique Protest Won’t Disrupt Fuel Supply, Says ERB

Oil Marketing Companies Association of Zambia President Dr. Kafula Mubanga has advised the country not to panic over the availability of petroleum products on the Zambian market.

Dr. Mubanga says despite the planned protest in Mozambique that is expected to last for a week, the country will still use other alternative routes such as the Tazara pipeline to import diesel.

Dr. Mubanga says on petrol, the energy regulation board will have to use what is in the national reserve to fill the gap that will be caused by the effect of the protest in Mozambique.

Meanwhile, Energy Regulation Board Director General Engineer Elijah Sichone says the current petrol stock on the Zambian market stands at 14.2 million liters against daily demand of 1.6 million liters.

On Thursday, some oil marketing companies wrote to their drivers transiting through Mozambique to pack their trucks during the period in which that country is expected to hold a week of protest.
