In an earlier interview while explaining change of Nationality to Bahrain, Olympic Gold medalist Winfred Yavi says she failed to get an opportunity in Kenya to join the national team severally.
Yavi is Kamba lady born and raised in Kenya
She would do trials but never got selected as the Kenyan criteria never favoured her.
An opportunity showed up to switch to Bahrain and she did that. She’s also a Bahrain citizen.
The 2024 Olympic triumph is a journey she begun in 2017 while in Kenya.
