Satellite imagery circulating online appears to show that a mobile X-band radar system AN/TPY-2, valued at around $500 million, may have been damaged following a drone attack attributed to Iran earlier this week.
part of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system was reportedly deployed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a facility used by U.S. forces in Jordan.
However, United States Central Command previously rejected Iranian claims that the THAAD radar had been destroyed, stating that most incoming threats were intercepted and that any debris falling inside the base caused limited damage without affecting the systemโs main radar capability.
The situation remains unclear and has not been independently verified.
