Trump may not be my cup of tea.
But if he manages to restore peace between Israel and Palestine; if the missiles finally fall silent over Gaza and the children of Gaza can play and smile again; if the terrified hostages return home safely; and if Hamas demilitarizes and gives way, allowing Gaza to rebuild under civilian technocrats, then I will admit that the man is worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize.
Earlier today, before landing in Tel Aviv, Trump told journalists that the Gaza war has ended. The world now waits in bated breath to see what exactly that means.
Meanwhile, Hamas released the first seven Israeli hostages earlier today, a glimmer of hope in a region that has known too much heartbreak.
