I take showers with my 14-year-old son and didn’t expect him to do this to me.

I’m a 37-year-old woman and I know what most people think when they hear that my 14-year-old son showers with me, it sounds odd right? but there’s a valid reason behind it.

We share the same bathroom and bedroom and this situation just unfolded over time I hesitated to share this online knowing the kind of judgment and looks I’d get from STRANGERS.

But here it GOES.

IT All Began 3 years ago when my husband left us suddenly without any explanation we’d been married for over 15 years and everything seemed normal then one day he packed his bags said he was going to the Store to buy milk and never came back.

The kids were devastated especially my youngest, Max, he clung to me more than ever.

I wanted to send him back to his own room but seeing him so vulnerable made it impossible over time Max gradually moved closer to my side, eventually sleeping beside me most nights.

Sometimes even cudd–ling up to me, it didn’t stop there I began to notice that during the day max wouldn’t leave my side either.

Whether I was brushing my teeth or taking a shower Max was always there watching closely at first I hoped it was just a phase something he would grow out of like most teenage behaviors but his days turned into weeks and weeks into months.

It became clear that this wasn’t going away then one night while I was in the shower Max asked if he could join me, I asked why and he said that kids at school were teasing him talking about being naive.

I didn’t understand what that meant but it left me stunned, I hesitated unsure if it was appropriate but looking at him so small and fragile, I couldn’t say no so a new routine began just normal showers with my son.
