“Every Night After The Lights Were Turned Off, The Young Nurse Would Secretly Enter My Room”

“Every night after the lights were turned off, the young nurse would secretly enter my room. Once, when I pretended to be asleep, I witnessed her terrifying secret.

I had to stay in the hospital for more than a month because of a broken leg after an accident. It was a public hospital in Quezon City, Metro Manilaโ€”crowded during the day but frightening at night. I stayed in a private room, the only light seeping through was from the hallway outside the door.

From the very first night, I noticed something strange: around midnight, the door would quietly creak open, and in came the figure of the young nurse, Aira Santos. By day, Aira was gentle, taking good care of me, nothing unusual at all. But at night, those hidden footsteps disturbed me deeply. She wouldnโ€™t turn on the lights, nor check the machinesโ€”she just stood beside my bed for a long time, sometimes leaning so close that I could feel her faint breath.

At first, I thought maybe she was simply too dedicated, but the regularityโ€”every single nightโ€”made me suspicious. So I decided to pretend to be asleep in order to observe her.

That night, exactly at 12:00, I heard a soft โ€œclick.โ€ The door opened, and Aira stepped inside. I shut my eyes tightly, keeping my breathing steady. She approached, and her cold hand gently rested on my forehead. A shiver shot down my spine, but I forced myself to endure it. Then, Aira sat on the chair, and began whispering strange words.
