Sen Enoch Wambua calls for the reduction of CSs and PSs During a Heated Debate

While comparing developed countries like the US and China, the Kitui County lawmaker wondered why President William Ruto decided to have a bloated cabinet at the expense of taxpayers’ money.

In his message, Wambua noted that the US, which has seven times the population of Kenya, has just 15 Cabinet members, while China has only 25 members of the council. In China, Wambua shocked the house when he revealed that there are no assistant ministers, no Principal Secretaries and that the President is only assisted by the members of the council.

His counterpart in Kakamega, Hon. Boniface Khalwale, criticized the inclusion of offices like those of the first and second ladies, which are outside constitutional bounds.

He vehemently urged President Ruto to dissolve and reconstruct the entire cabinet, emphasizing, “Mr. President, dissolve and reconstitute the Cabinet. Disband offices like the Prime Cabinet Secretary that are not constitutionally mandated in Kenya.”
