Here Is The Summary Of The Land Laws That Was Passed By MP Awaiting Ruto’s Approval
UPDATE: A summary of the Land Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023 which has been passed by MP awaiting to be assented into law by President Ruto.
The bill proposes several amendments to laws that relate to land.
Key issues;
-Annual tax on freehold land
-Lands CS will have authority to forcefully acquire land deem necessary for GOK
-Ksh. 500m license fee to operate a lands selling firm
-Land CS will have authority to lease out GOK land
-Most powers transferred from National Lands Commission to Cabinet Secretary.
- A land acquisition committee will be set up by Lands CS
